Written in Arnen's precise, loopy cursive in an animal-gnawed, but otherwise relatively new-looking journal:

... Hi.  (Why are you supposed to greet your journal, anyway?  I bet humans came up with that.)

Within her home in Ironforge, Arnen sits in an ancient-looking wooden chair, discolored and warped with age.  Placed atop the more modern-looking stone desk before her is a leather-bound stack of parchment, not quite thick enough to be called a book, opened to the first page.  An ornately-carved inkwell is perched next to it; a gloved hand holds an owl-feather quill poised over the dark ink.
