The Closing of Another Chapter

Character:

It was done. The nightmare was finally over. Dionysa's execution had gone off without a hitch and everyone was now looking forward to turning a new page in their lives. So, why was Asharri still finding it difficult to do the same?

She had believed that this would give her the closure she needed in light of everything that had happened. She had believed that this was the right thing to do; regardless of how delicate the situation was. No matter the consequences that may follow. It was her sworn duty to protect Quel'Thalas and its people with her very life. It was her personal duty to protect those she held near and dear. And her professional duty to hold it all together in front of her supporters and crew.

But every time Asharri closed her eyes, she saw those horrible eyes staring back at her. Even in death, Dionysa had a way of haunting her and it was proven that day at the execution.

Chink!

She heard the axe collide with the stone, and then that horrible thump once Dionysa's head rolled off and met with the ground below. Asharri fought with herself to lift her head and look up. Proving to herself that it had been finished. But what she wasn't prepared for, was meeting the final impression; those eyes of Dionysa. As silly as the thought was, it was almost as if the warlock had purposely made this happen.

A horrified gasp escaped her and she quickly looked away. Had it not been for the company of those who had surrounded her, she may have thrown up. With Katio disposing of the remains, Asharri got a hold of herself and inquired on the mental and emotional status of everyone.

She was quite happy to see Orihmas as calm as he was. Even though she knew that this probably disturbed him quite a bit; regardless if the warlock deserved it or not. Bal'Kathar seemed to be sailing along just fine and Aaden... well, Asharri was concerned with his well-being.

On her return to Quel'Thalas, Asharri hoped that she could put all of this behind her. She hoped the others could too. It was time that another chapter was started.
