I'm going to introduce my characters, here, in a condensed, soundbyte format. There's a quote, a small personality description, and a trajectory. The idea is to try and get a hold of the character's "voice," give readers an idea of who this person is, and to get a grasp of where I envision the character's development heading. Maybe this will even offer some hooks for RP. WoooOooo :D
(Edit: I've done a few, and have left space for the others when I come around to them! Stupid ideas are subject to change. Hopefully the good ideas will stick.)
Ulaar (Draenei Mage)-
"Oh! Hilarious. It reminds me, there's this funny thing that happens with certain arcane resonances that... Um, well, you probably wouldn't get it. But anyway - great joke!"
Ulaar would be a really nice guy if he weren't so carelessly offensive when he opens his big yap. He's something of an arcane prodigy, and he's been told that he learns faster and better than most - and that's really exciting to him! He just hasn't realized that he comes off like a pompous asshat when talking with others.
I anticipate Ulaar grating on the nerves of many of the people who interact with him, but I'm hoping it will come across in more of a socially awkward context rather than intentional jerkishness. I'd like Ulaar to learn more about being socially acceptable in the course of RP; it'd be a milestone for him to make some genuine friends.
Brennas (Forsaken Warrior)
"Used ta know it was fall by the smell or the chill. Not no more, I don't. It's fall all the same, I reckon."
Gregory Brennas wasn't a warrior in life, but there's little need for farmhands in the army of the Banshee Queen. Now he plies his considerable farm-raised strength against the enemies of the Forsaken with joyless determination. He performs his functions as a soldier because there is little else for him to do.
I picture Brennas being the strong silent type, until he meets charismatic individuals who can show him more appreciation than Sylvannas can. Let's face it; that sets the bar pretty low. It'd be a milestone for Brennas to begin to question his place in Forsaken society.
Brenworth (Worgen Druid)
"It's attention, and care. I care for the land, and its orchards bare succulent harvests. The land knows me, and I know it. In fact, there's a glade I'd love to show you...."
Loren Brenworth was a dog long before the Worgen Curse came around. Loren found his main interest in dabbling with the hearts of young girls only amplified by his studies in the pastoral "old ways." Gilnean druidic practices stared baldly at the raw, animal nature of things, and a scamp like Loren used it as rhetorical leverage to open many a bodice.
Dude is due to be overwhelmed by the savvy ladies in the world beyond the Greymane wall. It'll be a great catalyst for development to Loren if he finds himself getting cold shoulders from women he assumes he can twist 'round his little finger. Perhaps guidance by another Druid might also open Loren's eyes to the potential of Druidic power beyond making the panties drop.
Tarishi (Troll Shaman)
"Is this Sen'jin? If it is, then I am Tarishi, most definitely. If not, who can say? I may be something different. Who can tell who is dreaming who?"
He's a little bit of Phantom Tollbooth, a little bit of Rafiki, and a little bit of a complete space case. Tarishi is a shaman most at home listening to the fickle spirits of the wind and air, and he takes after them perhaps too much. However, there is some wisdom to be found in his rambling thoughts and disjointed view of the world. He seems pretty happy to be so unfettered by logical reasoning. Wouldn't you?
RP hooks for Tarishi are incredibly easy. He'll start conversations with anyone, often has an out-loud narrative of what he's thinking, and is generally accepting of everyone. Plus, when real life attacks and I have to skedaddle from a scene, he's can find something shiny and wander off. Hurray for convenience!
Gargik - Orc Rogue (Bitterfase skinny rogue, always catching crap from burly derp-head orc warriors. But effective in his own way)
Jazaal - Draenei Paladin (Equal parts filthy garage mechanic with a beer gut, and righteous warrior for all that is just. And beernuts.)
Chrisolm - Human Death Knight (SadAngry)
Some Goblin - Goblin is going to be the hunter. Also pretty undeveloped. Not very animal-focused, that much I know.
Brizzlefar - Gnome Warlock (Warlock? Why, no. I'm a businessman.)
Some Belf - He'll be the priest. Highly idealistic, opinionated, and naive.
SO I JUST SAW YOU IN GAME and Ulaar seemed genuinely hilarious. I honestly think WrA is/will be a good match for you -- and you were quite willing to put yourself out there for walk up RP so I'm 99.999% sure you're going to have a blast here. I know there's good Horde side RP for Forsaken, too.
Ah man I laughed. All three of those characters look really cool so I'm sure the rest of the ones you make will be just as great, too.
You also used the word baldly which is a word I've wanted to use but it's one of those words I'm like ... I will probably just use it in an awkward way and not make it work.
me gusta
haha, all your characters sound entertaining, I hope I get a chance to run across them sometime xD
Probably would be best to keep my worgen druidess away from your worgen druid, though. Chances are she'd probably make him worse xD
Alliance: Anaeska, Tarveili, Roishard, Nibaela, Gaelifreya
Horde: Arafalia, Zaiviel, Taraia, Akrysta, Ennaye
Oman, sounds like he would be a blast to RP with my rogue, Madi.
Hope I see ya in game!

Eeee! I just had a great "first night." I was updating my RID status with "OMG DWARVES IN THE DWARVEN DISTRICT" and just totally blown away by all the people out playing and just being out there!
And then on a lark I ported to Shattrath, and found some great Draenei RP out there. I'm jazzed. Jazzed!
I have a feeling it'll be very easy to find folks more than willing to fall for Loren's cheap tricks. ;)
After all, the man's played by circa Mr. Ripley Jude Law with a Franz Josef set of whiskers. What's not to love?
....I'll have to figure out some nice disincentives ;)
Oh god I think if I met Brenworth on Liviana she'd smack him with her staff a few times for trying to get in her pants >_> well not actually hit him hit him but at least start swinging her weapon at him to chase him off.
I so want to run into you now for the Luls to blog about. the only thing Brenworth would have to worry about soon after would be the very upset male magi Worgen that would be breathing down his neck.
Illu'noir Scribe Fun fact #3 - (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ I flip tables. A lot.

Beating him with a stick is such the appropriate response. :D
haha, I can think of at least two of my girls who would easily fall for his tricks xD Either because they're prone to doing them themselves and are always amused at a fun little game with someone else who does, or are just blatantly oblivious of everything and easily swayed by pretty words xD
Alliance: Anaeska, Tarveili, Roishard, Nibaela, Gaelifreya
Horde: Arafalia, Zaiviel, Taraia, Akrysta, Ennaye
My worgen druidess would have a thing or two to say to your Brenworth. Starting with "Not that th'idea doesn't appeal t'me, but don't ye think ye can find -better- things t' do with yer time? Like learnin' 'ow t' make convenient 'urricanes an such, that's always fun." She is a boomkin and has way too much fun with it, and teaching a less experienced druid might get her to settle down and focus on something besides chasing cute guys in Stormwind.
...Might.
My forsaken warrior and your forsaken warrior should talk! Granted, my guy's a Crusader with somewhat...strong views on Sylvanas, but he's also a nice guy who enjoys talking to people.
@iAria: Haha; a few successful gambits would be fun, especially if afterwards Brenworth wishes he had Every Man For Himself to escape a Class-5 Clinger ;D
(Jersey Shore reference? I would never. >.>)
@Lilith_queen: That sounds like a fun match! I finally got Brenworth out of the starting zone, and can start introducing him to the world at large. Also, holy frijole the Staff of Earned Tranquility is pretty! I know that Worgen using it as RP gear are a dime a dozen on an RP server, but I don't care. I love the look of it and it fits the theme of Brenworth's Blair-Witch / Wickerman druidism.
And a Forsaken buddy? Lovely! If I have time tonight, I'm going to write Brennas' MRP description and stretch his legs. Time to spend some time H-Side :D
Isn't it, though? My Daphne's still got it, but as every weapon for casters now is a main hand and an offhand she can't mog it and it makes me sad.
Yay, look me up! I'm Rheg over there, the Crusader in the white armor lounging in the Wyvern's Tail at ungodly hours of the night.
That is one fine mogged outfit for a Forsaken Crusader. I'll think of a reason to get my bag of bones to Org!
Progress!
I feel like Brennas is coming along the more I play him. I had a fun opportunity to draw another player into some RP while questing in Hillsbrad the other day. I was pleased, too, that the player didn't have any RP flags, but participated anyways. And then we were both eaten by a yeti. BUT STILL. Was fun.
I've been pecking away at how I feel about troll priests, and I have to say that the shakiness of established lore is making me less-than-enthused about that choice. So! I went presto-change-o with some of my unleveled alts, and now I have a Troll Shaman, Belf Priest, and Goblin Hunter. I think shaking out those classes to those particular races makes me happier. Their potential to be people in my head has just trebled. More on them later, since I'll be focusing on Ulaar, Brennas, and Brenworth for now.
ALTHOUGH, I definitely had some good thoughts for my Draenei Pally. Originally I just wanted him to occupy a thematic space opposite Ulaar. He would be big, strong, a bit more experienced/mature, and perhaps a little dumb, too. When trying to figure out what profession combinations I wanted for my cast of toons, I realized I had no engineer. Boom. Now the Draenei is a big lug of mechanic, interested in Dwarven steam tech, big gears, machinist grease, catalytic converters, tobacco, beer, and poutine. Not necessarily in that order. Suddenly, he had a lot more personality in my head. And he has a gut.
Eee. Commission got finished for Ulaar right here. Art by the lovely maplemoon.
The other day Ulaar was approached by the brusque and tactless Veraad. He was all "Your hat looks stupid, just thought you should know."
Ulaar was all
...I discovered paint. This is why I commission arts O_o
I realize I am late to the party, but I wanted to pipe in with I LOVE your character concepts.
If you see any of mine out and about, please feel free to ping for rp! (Partinet in particular would looooove to meet your worgen. She'd play along, get him into a compromising (and helpless) position, then start rifling through his pockets. Shame, the girl has none! >.>)

Thanks! I'm excited to get Brenworth out into play, more, but currently I AM GRIPPED BY THE VISE OF LEVELING.
Seriously. So thirsty for 85. Hit 80 t'other day. Soon, soon, I will have the stats to get pretty tier 8 druid gear.
Mmmm. DAT TIER.
And I heartily approve of getting Loren indisposed a la Holmes. :D
I know what you mean, re: leveling. I have two in the 60s, two in the 70s, and 2 85s and I'm looking at the rest of the stable going 'ngh.. who's next?'
Parti is level-locked at 24, but she's supposed to be small fry. (Honestly hoping she picks the wrong pocket and gets swatted for it. >.>)

Oh man. Suddenly, troll!
I got to do a small tour of Darkmoon Faire with the Zion'deh group of Trolls the other day, and Tarishi suddenly came bursting wholecloth from my imagination. It was great.
Also: OMG RPing in Darkmoon Faire! It's such a great setting, with great places to hang out and things to observe. The group I was rolling with had a great time sitting on the sidelines of the PVP cage, hooting and a-hollering, as they say. Great stuff.
I love all of your characters, seriously. I'm a huuuuuge draenei fan, so it's nice to see RPing them. It's just... they all sound so fun and interesting and very easy to walk up to and RP with. I loff all of them. <3

Thank you! My brain is sloooowly realizing that I don't have to grind levels or collect ALL THE POINTS to be happy in an RP-way, so I'm finding myself spending more time loafing around RP spots. Friend my characters if you like - if you see me on, definitely hit me up for my location. We can "wander" into one another and RP!
I... had no idea it was you I was talking to earlier! Derp de derp derp!
Anyway! I am happy to dps for you anytime, just shoot me a line. :D

How awesome is this format?

I'm stealing it.
