Character Biography

Physical Appearance

Overall, Shryndael looks pretty damn girly. Kinda like a skinnier, somewhat taller Blood elven male, if one wanted an in-game model to compare him to. Not much muscle, keeps his face clean shaven. No scars on his face, in fact, it's perfect in overall skin tone.

He always has a pendant of a truesilver lily. This necklace is noticeable, as he wears it above whatever shirt/chestpiece/robe he wears.

While the bulk of his muscles reside in his core and shoulders, his legs and arms are thinner, not hosting as much muscle. His hips are narrow, his shoulders... slightly less so. The clothes he adorns usually do not fit him well, either being too tight in places or too loose in others. His body is overall feminine. He has an oddly handsome, charming visage, which is unburdened of any scars or blemishes. He is the opposite of rugged, and is, for the most part, well-trimmed and well-spoken.

Shryndael usually carries a staff with him, which is a simple wooden staff covered in thick, green vines, which bloom from time to time. At his thin waist sits, rather awkwardly, an herb satchel, and as he walks, one can hear the gentle clink of bottles and the swish of liquid.

When he speaks, his voice is one that can be easily overheard, unless he may be speaking with a sense of urgency. He sounds deceptively feminine, almosy coy as he speaks, which can easily give others the wrong idea. It is obvious that he has trouble with Common, because when he has to use it, he speaks slowly, as if he were unsure of what he's saying.

History

He often does not bring his history up with strangers, and if asked, he will choose to not mention most of it. "I am a simple botanist and an aesthete."

He likes to mention his mother's history as a botanist, and his own legacy in studying the herbs of Azeroth.

What may be revealed to others is that he participated in the War of the Shifting Sands as a Storm crow scout, and that he has a sister.

He will only tell others that he trusts and that are close to him of his druidic ability. Otherwise, he will cover it up as claiming that he was a "former" Druid of the Talon. He does not mention his exploits in Northrend, either, and if pressed, he will most likely state that he studies herbs in the north and does minor scouting work.

Personality

Primarily, Shryndael is an aesthete. An aesthete is defined as one whose pursuit and admiration of beauty is regarded as excessive or affected. (shamelessly taken from dictionary.com, they couldn't have said it better.) There are pleasant, rewarding thoughts and experiences from realizing beauty in nearly everything. However, there is a horrible, twisted aspect of it, as well, which Shryndael refuses to reveal to anyone.

Recognizing beauty in everything allows this Kaldorei to often overlook his inherent racism and apprehension to different cultures and practices. Perhaps overlook isn't the best word for it. His mind is clouded and overtaken by the appealing features of other individuals, the quaintness of their lives, or the charm of their personality. When Shryndael takes the time to lose himself within any kind of beauty, whether it be from his surroundings, from others or anything at all, he always feels a fond sense of happiness. Because of this, he is always open for exploring and discovering new places, individuals, or experiences, simply for the potential to witness something he believes is alluring.

And yet, how disturbing it is to think that anything could have the potential for beauty. Death, suffering, and abuse are things that the aesthete at first condemns, but cannot help but feel conflicted over. What of the alluring tragedies, the romantic display of death? The emotions that these things arouse are so poignant to the deranged Kaldorei. And after all, emotions in themselves are lovely, aren't they? Perhaps if one was so intoxicated by "beauty," they wouldn't realize just how terrifying it is that they are attracted to such things.

It often grieves Shryndael that others do not have the "gifts" that he possesses, and he finds that drinking often is a nice way to alleviate the supposedly beautiful sorrow he feels.
